Enhancing Health Care by Sending Nurses and Therapists to Your Home.
Full-Service Home Health Care

We think of ourselves as visiting doctors and hospitals for healthcare, but when you really think about it, successful healthcare starts at home. Regardless of where you see your doctor and what you have done, the goal is always for you to live with maximum health and independence in your own home. Generations Home Health bridges the gap between your doctor's office and your home and between the hospital and your home. We send nurses and therapists to your home to implement your doctor's instructions and help you and your family follow your prescribed plans of care.

Medicare certified home health in Virginia Beach, VA
Qualifications
Private duty nursing and personal assistance services are available on a private-pay basis, but most patients use insurance - especially Medicare. Because the services of Generations Home Health are so comprehensive and convenient, Medicare has certain qualifications patients must meet. When those qualifications are met, Medicare pays 100% of charges from Generations Home Health.

For Medicare or insurance reimbursement, patients must have a "skilled need." This means your plan of care must require the particular skills of a registered nurse, physical therapist, or speech therapist. This would include review of your medications, coaching with your therapeutic diet, home safety evaluation, monitoring of a therapeutic exercise plan, etc. The skilled need requirement is meant to differentiate medical home health from non-medical, personal assistance-services such as help bathing, help changing bed linens, cleaning around the house, etc. Generations Home Health does send home health aides for personal assistance services, but for insurance to pay, there must also be a "skilled need."

Medicare beneficiaries who are Generations Home Health patients must meet Medicare's definition of homebound. This means you require the assistance of another person or of an assistive device to leave the home (for example: a wheelchair, cane, or walker). Homebound also means that leaving the home requires a considerable and taxing effort or that unnecessary trips away from the home are medically contraindicated, and that this is the reason your trips away from the home are infrequent and of short duration. Most patients are only temporarily homebound due to illness or injury.
